Japanese Art and Antiques Exhibition 24.5. – 30.8.2025
During summer 2025 we held an exhibition consisting of ca. 100 antique items from the Regelski Collection in KODAS, a cider factory and visitor center located in Valgjärve, Southern Estonia. The exhibition was inspired by the blossoming apple trees surrounding the KODAS buildings. The exhibition is showcasing a collection of antique theatre masks, theatrical woodblock prints, triptychs, kimonos and Japanese actor dolls in expressive theatrical postures. We also presented a unique collection original woodblock prints,ukiyo-e, of Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858), who was one of the most notorious Edo period (1603 and 1868) artists. We showied few magnificent examples of urushi art lacquerware, such as boxes and utensils, and a large painting of a six part byobu room divider. Furthermore, we decorated the walls of KODAS premises with kakejikus, hanging scroll paintings.
